Leading Wearable companies 2015

Leading Wearable companies

Fitbit is the clear market leader in the worldwide wearable device market. Fitbit's first quarter shipments were driven by the release of three new devices (the Charge, Charge HR, and the Surge) along with continued demand for its older Flex wristband and One and Zip clip-on models.

Xiaomi cut through the one million unit mark with its Mi Band for the first time, a significant feat made all the more impressive considering the device just started shipping during the second half of 2014. But the product got delivered primarily within its home country of China.

Garmin's wearable device portfolio spans multiple areas of health and fitness. And leading as 3rd largest market sharer.

Samsung's fourth place. Since its debut in 2013, the Gear portfolio has diversified to include the Tizen-powered Gear, Gear 2, Gear Fit, Gear 2 Neo, Gear S, and the Android-Wear powered Gear Live.

Jawbone beat Pebble and Sony for fifth place, a result driven by the release of its UP MOVE and continued demand for its nearly year-old UP24.

The owner can either reply back using the watch or have it transferred to his or her iPhone. Health Wearable Gadget 2015

If you are someone who has made a new year resolution to get fit and healthy and active in 2015, then you’re in luck, as you will have a slew of wearable health gadgets and fitness trackers to keep you company and monitor your every move, from your heartbeats to your calories! If you are the kind of person who has always been health conscious, counting your steps as well as your calories, then these fitness trackers can take your active lifestyle to a whole new level. Read on to find out more!

Image / fitbit

The leading players in the health gadget or health tracking category would be Fitbit. It comes in attractive colors and different sizes for different size wrists, which is a thoughtful design touch. It can also sync with your smartphone to show you certain notifications like caller ID so you can continue to keep in touch with the world as you work out! It also comes with an alarm that is silent and on vibration mode.

The Fitbit Charge HR is attractive with a finish that is textured as opposed to the usual matte finish. Weighing at a little under 25 grams, it is also comfortable to wear at all times.
For the health tracking factors, it also continuously monitors heart rate, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The calorific burn data it shows is also accurate. It not only tracks factors like steps walked but also floors climbed and distance traveled. All this is displayed on a clear OLED display. All this data can be synced to your smartphone through apps that are available for Android, IOS and Windows Phone.

The battery life of the Fitbit health tracker is up to 7 days after an initial charge of a few hours. While the Fitbit is water resistant, it is only up to a certain limit, and it would not be wise to wear it while swimming, for instance.

The Fitbit charge HR is an elegant band that is not flashy or flamboyant in appearance. With the black colour band, you can wear it with almost anything and it is subtle enough to blend into almost any occasion without being too prominent. There are other colours available too, for the trendy and young-at-heart. The Fitbit Charge HR also has a buckle-like belt for strapping on, which doubly ensures that it does not slip off your wrist during any activities that you may be actively engaging in.
Because Fitbit Charge HR monitors your heart rate all the time, it is a more accurate barometer of how many calories you burn. The pedometer reading in the Fitbit is also highly accurate.
Another important feature of the Fitbit Charge HR is the sleep tracking mode which is automatic, so even if you forget to turn it off when you sleep or turn it on when you are awake, your health tracking will continue as before.

Use the Fitbit along with the app for even greater benefits!

Why Google glass didn't work

Google pulled out its invention, Google Glass, from the market before it could be released. In truth, people started writing many obituaries for Google Glass before it could be decided that it should beprevented from being released. Google says that it intends to bring out a new version of the Glass. However, here are some reasons why the Glass did not prove to be a success this time around.

image / wikipedia.org
Price
Due to the hefty price tag of $1,500, many users refused to buy Google Glass last year, when they were given a go ahead to buy it. The company has not given out the true sales figures for how many consumers actually went in for Google Glass. It is highly unlikely that anyone other than tech buffs must have gone in for this product.

It cannot be used by drivers
This hands free device does not do much, except look like a pair of funny glasses. One place, where Google Glass might have been useful would have been in cars to help the police navigate through the maze of streets in London. However, this was ruled out by the Metropolitan police, since it cannot actually be used by drivers due to the way it functions.

Poor battery life
Google had advertised that Google Glass’s battery could stand up for “one day of typical use”. Most users complained despite this that the battery would show as running low after two or three hours of use. It is something to be considered by Google while developing the advanced version of Google Glass.

Privacy concerns
If a common man wore weird looking glasses such as Google Glass outside of the Silicon Valley, questions would naturally arise in the minds of other people such as, “is the person recording me?” or “Is this person watching porn?” Many movie theaters, restaurants and bars banned users of Google Glass from entering their business premises, since it would make the people surrounding its wearers uncomfortable. What came across the minds of those who saw others wearing Google Glass was that they might record anything with their devices.

Not fashionable
Computers that are wearable have to look good. Why some wearable gadgets have been more popular than the others is because they look good on the person wearing it. The projector device looked more like a medical device than like something that could be otherwise worn by an individual. Google Glass sets stand out like a sore thumb, where all the other devices look elegant.

Glass cannot replace anything

Google Glass is not a phone, but a wearable computer with limited functionality. In fact, they need phones in order to work well. They may at the most replace digital cameras, but then cellular phones have already achieved that too. They are just another gadget to buy. Other gadgets such as tablets and smartphones have already replaced other technologies, but then Google Glass has been unable to serve as a replacement for anything. Something better than Google Glass is expected to come along and replace it too.

Wearable Tech 2015 Trends

When you think of wearable tech gadgets, the first things that come to mind are smartwatches and of course, Google glass.  But what was almost science fiction a decade ago has become reality today. This month, there was even a Wearable Technologies Conference 2015 in Europe, which goes to show just how fast wearable tech is going to be a part of ordinary life for the average urban dweller or tech-conscious youngster.

The first gadget on the list of most anticipated of the wearable tech gadgets for 2015 has to be Apple’s Watch, of course. Although smartwatches have already been launched by other companies like Motorola, Samsung, and LG, the Apple’s Watch has been gathering a lot of attention on the basis of its brand value alone. Smartwatches display apps and other notifications from your phone. So there would be no need to be on your phone all the time, if you can even take a call or browse the Internet or send a text message through your watch.

Image/Geek-Gadgets

The second wearable tech gadget to watch out for in 2015 will be fitness and health trackers that can be worn on the wrist or arm. These trackers measure things from your heart rate to UV exposure. The Band has already been launched by Microsoft, which is a fitness tracker worn on the wrist. This is capable of a variety of tasks, from counting calories to tracking heart rate, counting steps while running or walking, and even monitoring your sleep quality. There are other fitness trackers too in the running, like Fitbit and Jawbone as well as Samsung and Garmin.

Wearable virtual reality eyewear like Oculus Rift gaming is the next big thing to hit the wearable tech market in 2015.  The potential uses for this are huge, from gaming to movies that give an immersive experience to the spectator, to even tourism and marketing. Sony has designed the Morpheus as an answer to Oculus, planning to have it as an accessory for the Vita and PS4 consoles.

Zepp is a wearable tech gadget that helps you improve your golf. Wear it on your glove and connect it to your smartphone while playing golf. It will then offer a swing-by-swing analysis of your game while also taking it up a notch by adding a comparison of your swing with that of the professionals in the game.

One of the most innovative gadgets that won the Intel Make It Wearable contest is the Nixie, which rides the wave of the phenomenon that selfies have become. This drone with a camera is tiny and mounted on your wrist and leaps into action to take your selfie, after which it comes back on its own to a safe landing on your wrist!

For women, there is the Ringly, which is an 18K ring with a semiprecious stone that syncs with your smartphone to give you all the usual notifications.

It seems 2015 will be the year of the tech wearables!

Microsoft Hololens and how it will Impact Our Life

The news of the launch of Hololens, a product of Microsoft, which is an augmented reality headset, is all over the World Wide Web. The device would be released at the same time as the release of Windows 10. Hololens is a product that would take augmented reality to a whole new level. Way before it can be released; it is being touted as one of the most advanced in 3D augmented reality systems at the consumer level. So, what is the impact Microsoft Hololens could have on our lives?

Image: Hololens/Microsoft

Use of Hololens in 3D Printing

Microsoft Hololens is a 3D display that is not holographic, but something that has its own CPU and holographic processors. The users can easily interact with a virtual environment, when they wear this 3D headset. Alex Kipman, the project lead of the Hololens, has already called this feature of Hololens the “print preview for 3D printing.”Hololens provides its users with an intuitive interface, with which they would be able to visualize what the final printout would look like. You would be able to see the shape, the size, etc. of the objects to be printed in real time. One of the biggest barriers in 3D printing, which is the lack of intuitive software, would be overcome, when people use the Microsoft Hololens. Users would be able to manipulate 3D objects within an augmented space by making use of hand gestures and would be able to carry out the edits to the file before it could be printed in 3D.

Use of Hololens in gaming

Hololens will only show the wearer some images that only he or she can see. Everyone else in the same room as the wearer will think that they are just wearing goofy glasses. However, you would also be able to see the real world around you while being able to see the virtual gaming environment. You can play and still not worry about bumping into another person or into walls. The goggles will watch your gaze, track all your movements, and also transform what you see by blasting light that is harmless at your eyes. You can track where you are at, since the device allows the use of hand gestures. Right now, you can only interact with the images through a mid air click. The device contains many sensors thathelp you sense your movements inside a room. This makes the device create images using the information that it has acquired about your movements along with layers of colored glass. Wish to see the back of a virtual car in the middle of your garage? Then, simply walk to the other side of it. The goggles also have a camera, which you can use to see the different objects in a room. So, you will know where the chairs or the tables in your kitchen or inside your house are. You can even use virtual dynamite to, for instance, blow a hole inside the chair in your kitchen to see what it really looks like on the inside.

The hereO
Parents crave safety, especially new parents.  Well here is something that is perfect for them. The hereO, is a watch that you can have your child wear; it has a GPS in it so that parents are able to know the location of the child at any time of any day. This watch only works with the hereO family location application though, so that is something that should be kept in mind. But imagine how much better you as a parent, will feel once you have this for your child or children! Never again will you stress about your child getting lost, or taken, because no matter what, you will know where they are.

Siemens hearing aid
Hearing aids haven’t been popular for too long, but they have been around for quite awhile. And now as 2015 is here, so is a hearing aid that allows the user to hear in highly demanding environments. Siemens hearing aid gives users a chance to be able to hear even better in noisy situations such as, crowded parties or restaurants, and even in highly windy situations such as boat rides or on the beach.
